| Ruben S. Ayala | Senator Ayala had a long and distinguished career in California politics. He is most notable for his work in the 1980s to introduce the Peripheral Canal, which would have allowed water exports that avoided the delicate Bay- Delta. |
| John Brudin | General Manager (retired), Eastern Municipal Water District. Mr. Brudin helped the district adopt a new ethic of thinking and acting like a business instead of a large public agency. |
| Louis Fletcher | For 35 years Louis Fletcher worked for San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, first as the District’s engineer and then as General Manager. Louis has had his hand in nearly everything that is connected to the water in the San Bernardino Valley. |
| P. Joseph Grindstaff | As director of CALFED, Joe Grindstaff is responsible for leading state and federal partners and other interested parties to implement what’s best for the Delta and all of California. As Deputy Secretary for Water Policy, Mr. Grindstaff also helps translate the state’s water issues into sound public policy. |
| Robert Holcomb | Bob Holcomb, San Bernardino mayor for 18 years, spearheaded the campaign to keep the city’s water independent from the rest of Southern California. He also laid the political foundation for the State College Board to choose this city to build a university — CSUSB — on the basis of our water rights. |
| Lois Kreiger | Lois Krieger was the first woman to chair the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California board, representing Western Municipal Water District. She has a life-long commitment to thoughtful water policy. |
| Congressman Jerry Lewis, (R-Ca, 41) | As chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Jerry Lewis was a driving force in directing federal infrastructure funds to aid water projects in the Inland Empire, including the East Branch of the State Water Project and the Inland Feeder pipeline. |
| Arthur Littleworth | Arthur L. Littleworth is one of the preeminent water law attorneys in the United States. In his 40 years of legal practice, he has participated in all aspects of water law. He coauthored the book California Water, widely viewed as the definitive book on this subject. |
| Joseph A. Rowe | The first Water Hero award was given posthumously to Joseph Andrew Rowe to recognize the magnificent gift of his father’s and his own water-based library. The thousands of records reports and other documents in his gift became the cornerstone of the Joseph Andrew Rowe Water Resources Archive that is part of the WRI. |
| Gerard Thibeault | Gerard Thibeault is the recently-retired Executive Officer of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Santa Ana Region. He has been a regional water quality control board staff member for more than 33 years, joining the regional board staff in 1975. |
| Hubert Webb | Hubert Webb is the patriarch of Albert A Webb Associates, a well respected engineering company in Riverside. He was a part of the State Water Project from its very earliest days, helping to set up the Crestline Lake Arrowhead Water Agency in the San Bernardino Mountains. He’s also been involved with major Inland Empire water supply and infrastructure projects over the past six decades. |
